UKIP MEP Derek Clark
said: "I am appalled that Labour and Lib Dem MEPs voted to fly in the lap of luxury at taxpayers expense. While ordinary people are taking cuts in services and paying more tax, the Champagne socialists are voting to make their high salaries increase even more.
"People can now see that these EU-mad MEPs are in favour of the EU because it is good for their pocket. These MEPs are happy for ordinary people to pay for their jolly life. This vote reveals the true motivation of greed behind calls for more power to the EU. It really means more money for MEPs and their EU staff."
