Welcome to our revamped blog on the UKIP MEPs web site. I am John Locke and I shall be bringing to the table a healthy mixture of news, views, gossip and, of course, the occasional plump pheasant of a story poached from the great estates of Our Great Emperor......or should that be Emperors?
No one quite knows if the self-effacing Herman van Rumpy-Pumpy is the boss round here or whether it is in fact one José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero in his guise as Prime Minsiter of Spain and thus the man who heads up the current Spanish Presidency of the EU (confusingly at home he is technically the President of something quaintly known as 'the Spanish Government': how very twentieth century!) Or is it Portuguese fixer José Manuel Barroso, Presdent of the European Commission. The answer remains open as I write. Us forelock-tugging peasants must sit idly watching impotently whilst these three jostle together for the title 'Primus Inter Pares'' as the three of them circle around the rutting place like three testosterone-filled stags, each bent on proving that he is the strongest and fairest of them all.
Anyway, now that I have my feet under the table here, I am in a position to bring you an intimate view of this veritable Puzzle Palace and of some of the goings on. More importantly, now that the Lisbon Treaty is in force throughtout the Empire, I shall be giving you a good look at how the Federastes are pressing swiftly ahead with the consolidation of their new found powers and the completion of Le Grand Projet which is to give the EU all the trappings of a sovereign state in its own right. It already has most of them, but, to whet your appetite, they include the creation of a fully-fledged European Public Prosecutor and, through the empowering of such lovely acronymic entities as EUROJUST and EUROPOL, the creation of an EU-wide legal system which will have at its black heart the 'Europeanisation of National Criminal Law'.
Which means that they have it firmly in mind to do away with the UK's Common Law which has served us so well for eight hundred years.
Having made contact with fellow braconniers and braconnieri - French and Italian poachers to you - I hope also to bring you news of events and politics in the lands of our colleagues here in the Europe of Freedom & Democracy Group. And I shall be tapping into the network of quite excellent non-Brits that we have working for UKIP here in Brussels for yet more and different angles on Euroscepticism as it is practised on what we once used, fondly, to call 'The Continent'.
And if, perchance, you have some juicy info or a good story for me to follow up, let me know.
Nice to see our finest game bird, the 'grey' partridge. Sensible countrymen, now try to preserve their habitat, since these little farmyard gentlemen are in decline. The 'Red Leg' Frenchman, a great runner, having usurped our friend's national place.
