(UNI) India and the European Union (EU) are engaged in ‘active and constant’ negotiations on the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two and the results of the discussions will be sent to the European Parliament for approval, European Members of Parliament said.
A delegation of the EU MPs, currently on a three-day visit to India, said both sides were working very hard for negotiating the agreement and different parties were doing what they could for its conclusion.
‘Both sides are engaged in constructive negotiations, which is very important. We are working hard to advance the negotiations,’ a member of the European Delegation in India, said.
The Delegation members--Jos Manuel Garcia, Vice President of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs, Wolf Klinz, Chair of the Special Committee on the Financial, Economic and Social Crisis, Slawomir Witold and Presedo Member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs Antolin Sanchez--held discussions with Indian officials on the post-global meltdown scenario and the upcoming G-20 Summit.
