BRUSSELS — The balance of payments of the 27-nation European Union fell deeper into deficit in the second quarter, the EU statistics agency said on Wednesday.
The external current account was 37.1 billion euros in the red compared to 31.8 billion euros in the first quarter, Eurostat said.
The second quarter deficit was smaller than the same period last year, when it reached 42.1 billion euros, the agency reported.
